Arborum Ecology

We specialize in providing complete ecological solutions for development and conservation projects which include bat, badger and great crested newt surveys.

Our staff, and network of specialist associates, are all members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and are licensed by Natural England to undertake a variety of protected species surveys and mitigation projects and can provide services to all areas of the British Isles.

All surveys and mitigation are carried out to Natural England Protected species guidelines, Institute of Ecology and Environmental management guidance on survey methodology and/or to BS 5837 standard.

Don't be caught out: under Planning Policy Statement 9 local planning authorities are required to take into account potential impacts on protected species and sites when considering individual planning consents. You may be asked by the local planning authority for an ecology survey even at a very late stage in the planning process, no matter what type of development.

Services:
Pre-purchase ecological survey

If you are thinking of purchasing an area of land or building with the intention of (re)development this survey will quickly highlight any ecological obstacles that may be on site.

Extended phase 1 habitat survey.

The Extended Phase One Habitat Survey provides a detailed assessment of a sites ecological value. As well as assessing the site for protected species the vegetation on a site is also assessed and grouped into broad classifications.

Protected species and scoping surveys.

We provide specialised surveys to confirm the presence or absence of protected fauna and flora species on a site. Most commonly these are for bats, badgers or great crested newts. If it is not possible to carry out a full protected species survey due to the time of year a scoping survey is more appropriate and may indicate that there are no protected species present.

BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes Ecological Reports

We provide an ecological survey and report to allow developments to gain credits for BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments

Mitigation

Mitigation projects are carried out to Natural England Protected species guidelines and Institute of Ecology and Environmental management guidance.

Our members of staff hold a variety of protected species licenses and cover all UK species.

We offer a wide range of other services so please feel free to contact us if a service you require is not listed or for more details on any of the above
